27/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – Ministers in charge of gender equality from 42 countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) signed a ministerial declaration on Wednesday 26 October to strengthen gender equality, in the presence of the European Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli. In this declaration, the states presented concrete recommendations and actions in four priority areas: strengthening the legal framework, facilitating women’s access to leadership positions in the public sector, increasing women’s participation in the economic sphere and combating and preventing violence against women. Meeting as part of the 5th High-Level Conference on Women for the Mediterranean, political representatives had the opportunity to exchange with experts, with a view to, among other things, developing the roadmap for the implementation of national mandates on gender equality.
