21/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – The French and German governments are about to present a joint paper by the 29 September Competitiveness Council (see EUROPE 12017/8), following the announcement of the European legislative act for raw materials (see EUROPE 13021/5), according to a source close to the dossier. Both governments should call for a “comprehensive” mechanism, which would be built around three pillars. The first would aim to strengthen crisis management of supplies (obligation to also share information with companies). A second pillar would be dedicated to evaluating and strengthening the arsenal of financial instruments and synergies. Finally, a third pillar would be devoted to promoting a sustainable and responsible value chain from extraction to exploitation of raw materials at the international level. (PH)
