22/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 22 July the EU condemned the attack on a mountain resort in the northern Iraqi province of Dohuk on Wednesday, which killed eight tourists and injured 23 people. “The targeting and killing of civilians is against international law. An investigation should establish who is responsible for this attack to be held accountable”, the European External Action Service spokesperson said. While Iraqi media reports indicate that Turkey, which carries out attacks in Iraq against the PKK and other organisations it considers terrorist, is responsible for the attack, Ankara has denied responsibility. The spokesperson expressed the EU’s solidarity with the Iraqi people and announced that the EU would continue to give its unwavering support to the sovereignty and stability of Iraq. (CG)
