Environmental economic accounts, European Commission consults public on proposed expansion of statistics to be provided

On Thursday 14 July, the European Commission launched an online public consultation on its proposal to extend the scope of the European Regulation (EU) 691/2011 on European environmental economic accounts, with a view to better meeting the statistical needs of EU environmental policy.

This proposed Regulation aims to add water, ecosystems, forests and environmental subsidies to the existing environmental economic accounts to enrich Eurostat statistics (see EUROPE B12990A10).
