MEPs approved by 572 votes to 28 with 32 abstentions the report by Markéta Gregorová (Greens/EFA, Czech Republic) on the temporary liberalisation of trade with Moldova on Tuesday 5 July. The regulation will double the tariff-free import quotas for seven categories of Moldovan products: plums, table grapes, apples, tomatoes, garlic, cherries and grape juice (see EUROPE 12968/26).
“Now Moldova can redirect part of its trade to the EU, and the speedy agreement on this measure means that the country can already do so with this year’s harvest. This way we help stabilise and boost Moldovan economy”, the rapporteur said.
