05/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Tuesday 5 July that the EU and Norway have concluded consultations that will modernise the exchange of fisheries control data. The two delegations agreed to use a common software platform for data exchange (FLUX Transportation Layer). They agreed to start using this software to exchange ship position data from 1 January 2023 (other types of data will follow). In addition, the EU and Norway have agreed to use a new format (UN/FLUX Standard) for the exchange of vessel positions. The EU and Norway also agreed to increase the frequency of vessel position transmissions to 30 minutes for Danish, Swedish and Norwegian vessels fishing in the Skagerrak. (LC)
