05/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament rugby team was officially launched at the end of June with a view to participating in the Parliamentary Six Nations Tournament and the Parliamentary Rugby World Cup which will be held in France next year. The group, jointly led by French MEPs Eric Andrieu (S&D) and Anne-Sophie Pelletier (The Left), will be the first European team in an international competition of this kind. There are already ten MEPs on the team, including one from the Netherlands and one from Bulgaria. Recruitment is still open for elected representatives and staff of the Parliament and other EU institutions. Let us hope that, even without an MEP from the United Kingdom, the home of rugby, the European Parliament’s team will be ready for the upcoming major sporting events.
