05/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The newly reconstituted Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF) began its work at its plenary session on Monday 4 July. The names of the 35 members are published in the register of Commission Expert Groups (https://aeur.eu/f/2h7 ). Appointed by the Director General of DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MARE) of the European Commission, the new members have a three-year mandate. The experts were chosen through a selection process launched by DG MARE in October 2021. STECF will continue to support the scientific advisory process for the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), complementing the advice of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). It assists the Commission in preparing legislative proposals and monitoring policies. (LC)
