20/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – The interactive live video streaming service Twitch announced, on Monday 20 June, that it has signed up to the EU’s Code of Conduct against illegal hate speech online (see EUROPE 12749/20). “Twitch joining the Code, as a platform which speaks to the younger generations, is a step in the right direction, as we continue our work to build a safer digital space”, commented the Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders. Twitch thus becomes the twelfth company to adhere to the Code of Conduct, after other major players such as Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. Twitch had already announced recently its participation in the Code of Practice on Disinformation, the new version of which was launched on 16 June by the European Commission (see EUROPE 12973/10).
