20/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) welcomes the European Commission’s proposal to revise the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (see EUROPE 12854/13) but regrets a lack of ambition on the issue of support for electric vehicles, in a position paper published on Monday 20 June. ACEA notes the lack of “ambitious requirements” for existing buildings that are not undergoing a major renovation. For the association, in every existing residential building, users of electric vehicles should be able to install charging points without major administrative obstacles (the “right to plug”). It also regrets the “lack of ambition” for existing buildings (both residential and non-residential) that are undergoing major renovations. Finally, it points to the lack of ambition in the obligations to equip parking spaces with charging points. To read ACEA’s position paper: https://aeur.eu/f/27o (PH)
