In 2021, 95.2% of bathing sites in Europe met the binding minimum quality standards set by EU legislation and 88% of coastal bathing sites in the EU were of excellent quality, as they complied with the stricter guide values, according to the European Environment Agency’s (EEA) annual report published on Friday 3 June for the previous bathing season.
As in previous years, the score for inland bathing sites was lower, with 78% of them rated as excellent.
