11/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – According to a draft decision of the EU Political and Security Committee of 4 May, the mandate of Antti Hartikainen as Head of the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine) should be extended until 31 May 2023. The mandate of the Finn, who has been in office since 1 July 2019, had already been extended once, from 30 June 2020 to 31 May 2021 (see EUROPE 12502/27). The mission, which aims to assist the Ukrainian authorities in the sustainable reform of the civil security sector through strategic advice and practical support, has been given additional temporary tasks due to the war in Ukraine, including advising the Ukrainian authorities on the management of refugee flows and the delivery of humanitarian assistance (see EUROPE 12915/9).
