Member States’ Foreign Ministers will adopt provisional agreement on revision of TEN-E Regulation on 16 May

11/05/2022 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 11 May, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) gave the green light to the final adoption of the provisional agreement reached between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU on the revision of the Trans-European Energy Network (TEN-E) Regulation (347/2013). It will be adopted on 16 May, without debate, at the Foreign Affairs Council. The text of the agreement will then be published in the EU’s Official Journal, the last step before it enters into force. Dating back to 2013, the TEN-E Regulation provides a framework for selecting trans-European energy infrastructure projects (high-voltage lines, gas pipelines, energy storage facilities, etc.) that are considered to be priorities and which can therefore benefit from various advantages, including eligibility for EU funding. Its revision had been the subject of heated debates, in particular on the possibility of excluding gas projects from the scope of the Regulation (see EUROPE 12859/14, 12854/14). (DG)
