05/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and Panama intend to set up a regional data centre for the European Earth observation programme Copernicus under a cooperation agreement currently being prepared, the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced in a press release on Wednesday 4 May. Objective: to strengthen the capacity of Latin American and Caribbean states to manage natural disasters related to climate change. The future regional data centre is a “key element” of the forthcoming digital alliance between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean in connection with the Global Gateway initiative, the EEAS said in its press release.
