05/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Thursday 5 May adopted by a very large majority the resolution on the impact of Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine on the EU’s transport and tourism sectors (see EUROPE 12945/12). Specifically, the resolution adopted by the Parliament calls for increased sanctions against the Russian transport sector, increased funds for military mobility within the EU, and increased aid to the tourism sector to support Ukraine. In addition, the text also calls for the creation of a European Tourism Agency and a European Crisis Management Mechanism and returns to the issue of energy dependency. “In addition to the sanctions regime, there is now the need to support, in the long term, the workers in the sector, who have been doing indispensable work since the beginning of the offensive”, said Karima Delli (Greens/EFA, France).
