02/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – EU High Representative Josep Borrell and Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi welcomed the formation of the new Macedonian government led by pro-European Dritan Abazović on Thursday 28 April. “We look forward to working together to make tangible progress towards the EU. Montenegro is a trusted partner, fully aligned with the EU’s foreign policy”, Mr Borrell highlighted. Mr Várhelyi emphasised his willingness to work with the government to carry out EU accession-related reforms, focusing on the rule of law, the economy and ecological transition, including the EU’s economic and investment plan. The new government, of about 20 members, is composed of moderate parties, both pro-European and pro-Serbian. (CG)
