Brussels, 25/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy, Olivér Várhelyi, announced on Thursday 24 March, from Ramallah, €25 million in aid to cope with the rise in food prices due to the war in Ukraine. “We see that food prices are going up, we see that basic foodstuffs, like wheat, are going up in price and for that reason we are able to allocate, to help the Palestinians cover these additional costs, €25 million, which we will deploy with UNRWA and the Palestinian Authority”, he announced. The Commissioner also called for further reforms, “which will lead to more effective institutions, institutions that can deliver, without external assistance, public services that are sorely lacking throughout the Palestinian Authority”.
