Brussels, 25/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission approved, on Friday 25 March, a €50 million Irish scheme to support the beef sector, which is still struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic (approved under the Temporary Framework for State Aid). The aid will take the form of direct grants to farmers and businesses active in the beef sector in Ireland. The aim of the scheme is to address the liquidity needs of the beneficiaries and to help them continue their activities during and after the pandemic. The Commission found the Irish scheme to be in line with the conditions set out in the Temporary Framework. In particular, the aid will not exceed €270,000 per beneficiary and will be granted no later than 30 June 2022. (LC)
