18/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The ‘Freeze and Seize’ task force, which brings together the European Commission, national authorities, Eurojust, and Europol, met for the second time on Friday 18 March to coordinate Member States’ actions to freeze and confiscate the assets of the 877 Russian or Belarusian oligarchs targeted by EU sanctions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Member States explained the measures already taken, the status of ongoing legal proceedings, and the possibilities for confiscation of assets under the appropriate legal bases, the European Commission said in a statement. ‘Freeze and Seize’ will also cooperate with the ‘REPO’ task force set up by the G7 countries and Australia on Wednesday 16 March.
