On Friday 18 March, the European Commission disbursed a new tranche of macrofinancial assistance of €289 million to Ukraine, following the €300 million disbursed at the Versailles summit (see EUROPE 12909/6), to enable the Ukrainian state to honour its financial commitments.
This payment is part of the sixth macrofinancial assistance package to Ukraine, which is worth €1.2 billion.
On Friday, the EU institution announced that it had adopted a €120 million operating grant (‘State and resilience building contract’ or SRBC) for the Ukrainian State. This grant aims to finance targeted measures for the recipient country to address “vulnerabilities” resulting from crises in critical areas such as transport, communication and energy networks.
In parallel, the European Commission recalls that it is preparing a seventh macrofinancial aid package to further support Ukraine in the long term. (Original version in French by Mathieu Bion)
