EPP calls on Commission to propose relief for transport of goods and passengers to and from Ukraine

04/03/2022 (Agence Europe)MEP Marian Marinescu (EPP, Romania) sent a letter on behalf of his political group, on Tuesday 2 March, to the EU Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean, asking the European Commission to propose targeted derogations to facilitate the transport of goods and passengers to and from Ukraine. These provisions, says the MEP, could include “relief in terms of road tolls, infrastructure costs, access or taxation”. Furthermore, Mr Marinescu insists on the importance of “rapidly reinforcing the ambitions for military mobility through the revision of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and the budgetary procedure”. Finally, the EPP member also expressed his political group’s willingness to apply “more targeted sanctions” to Russian transport operators in the maritime and rail sectors as well. (TM)
