15/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – MEPs voted in plenary on Monday 14 February to extend until 30 June 2022 the temporary measures allowing rail infrastructure managers to defer, reduce or waive the charges due to them from operators (684 votes in favour, 6 against, 5 abstentions) (see EUROPE 12556/18). At the same time, MEPs also gave the European Commission the power to adopt delegated acts to extend these measures until 31 December 2023. Negotiated under the urgency procedure and in force since October 2020, this provision should make it possible to limit the impact of the health crisis on the rail sector by relaxing the rules on access to tracks for operators.
