15/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – The EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, said on Monday 14 February that an agreement in the negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme was “in sight”. “The time has come to make a final effort and reach a compromise,” he posted on Twitter after a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. For his part, according to his ministry, Abdollahian explained that “some hasty steps, repeated manipulations of the text and a lack of serious willingness on the part of the West to reach a satisfactory and credible agreement in Vienna (had) led to an unnecessary prolongation of the talks”. “The Islamic Republic will not back down on its red lines, which are based on logic and realism”, he warned. The eighth round of talks resumed on 8 February in Vienna. (CG)
