15/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – *** Modified on Wednesday, 10:00 am *** On Tuesday 15 February the European Parliament formally decided by a large majority (598 votes in favour, 53 against, 43 abstentions) to take an urgent decision on the European Union’s sixth emergency macro-financial assistance programme for Ukraine worth €1.2 billion in the form of loans to help the country meet its financial needs. After the final green light of the Parliament expected this Wednesday and that of the EU Council last Friday (see EUROPE 12889/11), the first of the two €600 million tranches should be paid out very quickly. This aid will be conditional on respect for democratic rules, good financial management and the fight against corruption. Since 2014, the EU has already mobilised €17 billion in grants and loans to Ukraine. (MB)
