Brussels, 10/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – At the request of the High Court of Ireland, the Court of Justice of the European Union has been asked, for the first time, to give a ruling on whether EU fisheries ministers have “unlawfully” set total allowable catches (TACs) at unsustainable levels, according to the organisation ClientEarth in a statement released on Wednesday 9 February. The complaint, supported by ClientEarth, was issued by Friends of the Irish Environment (FIE) after the EU missed the target of ending overfishing of all fish stocks by 2020.
