31/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – In the context of the Conference on the Future of the EU, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) wants to become a co-decision body in policy areas with a territorial impact, in an opinion adopted on Thursday 27 January. The CoR requests: - access to inter-institutional meetings and documents; - the option of proposing compromises to the co-legislators; - better consideration of local and regional authorities in the design and implementation of EU policies in the Green Deal and the recovery and resilience plans. The CoR will present its final contribution to the Conference on the Future of Europe at the 9th European Summit of Regions and Cities in Marseille on 3 and 4 March. At the end of 2018 the European Commission had proposed a series of measures to improve subsidiarity in European legislation (see EUROPE 12123/20). (PH)
