European far-right forces agree to work together, but not to unite in European Parliament as of now

31/01/2022 (Agence Europe)European far-right groups, meeting in Madrid on Saturday 29 January at the invitation of Vox party president Santiago Abascal, adopted a declaration “reflecting our concerns and our commitment to defend a European Union that respects the sovereignty, freedom and traditions of the Member States”, according to a statement from the French Rassemblement National. The meeting was attended by the Prime Ministers of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, and Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, representatives of the Austrian FPÖ and Tom Van Grieken, the President of the Belgian Vlaams Belang. The participants call for “enforcing the principle of European preference”, “denouncing the immigration policy promoted by Brussels” or “defending the primacy of national constitutions over European law”. A “coordination office” will be created to unite the votes of the different formations represented in the European Parliament, but there is no question of creating a single group in the Parliament.
