EU RESPONSE TO COVID-19 / State aid

Covid-19, green light for €88 million Polish scheme to support pig sows producers

31/01/2022 (Agence Europe)The European Commission approved, on Monday 31 January, €88 million in Polish scheme to support pig sows producers whose businesses are suffering from the effects of Covid-19. This support has been approved under the State Aid Temporary Framework. Public support will take the form of direct grants, to mitigate the liquidity shortages the producers are facing and to address part of the losses they incurred due to the coronavirus pandemic and restrictive measures. The aid will be open to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises specialising in sow breeding. The Commission found the Polish scheme to be necessary, appropriate and proportionate, and therefore in line with the conditions of the EU Temporary Framework. In particular, the aid will not exceed € 290,000 per beneficiary and will be granted by 30 June 2022. (LC)
