17/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 17 January, the European Commission authorised a €150 million French aid package aimed at developing forestry and adapting forests to climate change. The aid will be partly funded through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Support will take the form of direct subsidies to private owners or their management associations such as forest economic and environmental interest groups and forestry cooperatives. Public bodies and owners will also be able to benefit from the measure. The measure will finance investments aimed at adapting forest stands to climate change, as well as investments that benefit aerial carbon capture, biodiversity conservation and the valorisation of ecosystem services. It will be in place until 31 December 2022. (LC)
