On Wednesday 5 January, the European Commission announced the launch of a call for applications to select experts and future members of the advisory groups – the “Mission Boards” that support the “EU missions” related to the Horizon Europe framework programme.
By way of reminder, five major missions have been identified in relation to Horizon Europe’s strategic plan: – Cancer Mission (fighting cancer); – Adaption to Climate Change Mission; – Restore our Ocean and Waters Mission; – Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission (living in Green Cities); – Soil Deal for Europe (ensuring healthy soils and food).
Each advisory group may thus be composed of up to 15 experts whose aim will be to provide advice and recommendations for implementing the action plans for each of the five missions, as well as raising awareness among citizens. Members are appointed for 3 years. However, they can be reappointed for up to two additional years.
In principle, Mission Boards meet at least three times a year. Additional ad hoc meetings may be convened by the Chair of the Mission Board with the agreement of the Commission services. Members of the mission board will be expected to work approximately 15 to 20 days per year, depending on the call for applications.
The call for applications to join the five mission boards will be available online until 2 February 2022. To access it: https://bit.ly/32LP6IO (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
