14/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – On 13 December, the European Commission launched a 12-week public consultation on the revision of EU legislation on the provision of food information to consumers (EU Regulation 1169/2011). The aim is to obtain as much input as possible from interested parties - the general public and professionals - with a view to a legislative proposal by the end of 2022. The revision will cover: front-of-pack nutrition labelling, nutrient profiling, origin labelling, date marking (a revision included in the EU’s ‘Farm to Fork’ strategy) and the labelling of alcoholic beverages (a revision included in Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan). The contributions will support the impact assessment for the proposed revision. The public consultation is open until midnight on 7 March 2022. To participate: https://bit.ly/3IORBKr (AN)
