10/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders said he was “rather satisfied” with the decision of the Hungarian Constitutional Court, which, on Friday 10 December, “seems to follow” a December 2020 judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) condemning Hungary for violating EU law on asylum and the return of irregular migrants (see EUROPE 12625/30). Recalling that the Commission had asked the CJEU to impose financial penalties on Budapest for non-compliance with the December 2020 judgment, he assured that the institution would continue its efforts to ensure that Hungary complied with EU case law.
