10/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – While the European Commission is expected to present, before the end of the year (potentially on 22 December), a delegated act on the inclusion of nuclear and fossil gas in the EU taxonomy, the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg unanimously adopted a motion on Wednesday 8 December calling on the Luxembourg government to “continue to use all political and legal means (...) to avoid a classification of nuclear energy activities as ‘sustainable’ in the taxonomy”. The motion also highlights the need to work with other anti-nuclear Member States such as Austria. However, Austria’s Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy, Leonore Gewessler, recently indicated that her country was ready to take the EU to the Court of Justice if nuclear energy was included in the EU taxonomy.
