On Friday 3 December, the European Commission presented the preliminary data for 2021 for the EU’s rapid alert system for non-food dangerous products, which has recently been named ‘Safety Portal’. These data were, since 2003 and today, presented annually for the previous year (see EUROPE 12669/10). In 2021, more than 1,800 alerts between authorities in Member States have been notified through the system so far. Most of these alerts relate to motor vehicles or related products (27%) and toys (19%). Christmas lamps and candles have also been regularly notified, noted the Commission. The most common risks related to hazardous products in 2021 so far have been injuries (28%) and chemicals (23%). See online notifications: https://bit.ly/3plEqYB (AN)
