03/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Global Coalition against Daesh announced, on Thursday 2 December, the creation of the Africa Think Tank, which will be co-chaired by the US, Italy, Morocco and Niger. This group will enable the coalition to undertake civilian capacity-building programmes to help address the threat of ISIS in Africa and to synchronise these efforts with existing initiatives on the ground, according to the coalition. On 1 December, the acting US special envoy for the Global Coalition, John Godfrey, told EUROPE that the coalition would focus on West Africa and the Sahel. The aim is to work on border security, battle ground evidence - that is, how to use information to build legal cases - and finally, sharing information that can be used for intelligence, he added.
