03/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – In its implementing regulation of 3 December, the European Commission added projects and programmes that may be subject to foreign investment monitoring. The mechanism for screening foreign direct investments into the EU entered into force in 2019, establishing cooperation between the Commission and Member States in this area (see EUROPE 12838/5). It has extended the list of projects annexed to the 2019 regulation to include, for example, the GOVSATCOM satellite communication programme, the Space Programme, the Euratom Research and Training Programme and the European Defence Fund. The aim is to monitor foreign investments in projects of strategic interest to the Union, in critical infrastructure and technologies, etc. See the implementing regulation: https://bit.ly/3rz6MkW (LM)
