Public consultation launched to prepare next annual report on rule of law

02/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 2 December, the European Commission launched a targeted consultation to gather information on developments related to the Rule of law in Member States in order to prepare its 2022 annual report, which will analyse the independence of the judiciary, the fight against corruption, the media situation and the overall balance of checks and balances. The latest report was published in July (see EUROPE 12766/2). The consultation is aimed at judges’ associations, civil society, NGOs, international organisations and EU agencies. This time, the 2022 report will be accompanied by specific recommendations to Member States.
