26/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 26 November, France officially requested an initial payment of €7.4 billion to finance its national recovery plan under the Next Generation EU Recovery Plan. It will submit a payment request to the Commission every year until 2026, the French finance ministry said in a statement. France is the second Member State to make such a request after Spain (see EUROPE 12829/24). It should be noted that for a Member State to receive pre-financing, its National Recovery Plan must be adopted by the EU Council before 31 December 2021. Seventeen EU countries have already received pre-financing. (MB)
