26/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – A tribute to the work undertaken by Valéry Giscard d’Estaing in favour of European integration will be paid on Thursday 2 December at the seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, one year to the day after the death of the former French president (see EUROPE 12615/6). The meeting will be attended by several key European figures such as the Presidents of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, the European Council, Charles Michel, and the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The ceremony will be held from 11am in the European Parliament hemicycle in the presence of the widow of the former French President, Anne-Aymone Giscard d’Estaing. The speeches will be punctuated by musical interludes played by the French pianist Alexandre Kantorow and the Schumann Quartet. (MB)
