26/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The French government decided on Friday 26 November to not invite the British Home Secretary Priti Patel to the ministerial meeting scheduled for Sunday 28 November in Calais to discuss measures to avoid tragedies in the Channel like the sinking on 24 November of a boat of migrants which led to the death of 27 of them. The decision follows a letter sent from Boris Johnson to Emmanuel Macron, which was made public on Twitter on the evening of 25 November. This action was judged as inelegant and “not serious” by the French president, especially since in this letter Boris Johnson asks Paris to take back all illegal immigrants who arrived in Great Britain. The meeting will involve Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the European Commission and the directors of Frontex and Europol. (SP)
