22/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced, on Monday 22 November, that it has started to assess an application for the use of a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson - a vaccine currently licenced in the EU for people aged 18 years and over. The European Agency will carry out an accelerated assessment of the data submitted by the manufacturer and is expected to give its opinion “within a few weeks”, it said in a statement on Monday. The EMA had already confirmed last month that a booster dose of the vaccines developed by Pfizer/BioNTech (see EUROPE 12805/8) and Moderna (see EUROPE 12820/21) could be given to people aged 18 years plus or minus six months after their second injection.
