European Commission looking into classification of infringements that may affect good repute of road transport operators

08/10/2021 (Agence Europe)On Thursday 7 October, the European Commission opened a feedback period for the draft act on the classification of serious infringements that may affect the good repute of a road transport operator. The purpose of this consultation is to update Regulation 2016/403 following the amendment of the common rules to be complied with in order to exercise the profession of transport operator (2020/1055). To this end, the European Commission wants to expand the existing list of infringements, to add the risk of distortion of competition on the market as a criterion for assessing the degree of seriousness of an infringement, and to review the methodology by which the level of seriousness of an infringement is determined according to its frequency. New provisions regarding offences that could lead to serious injury or death would also be introduced. More information: https://bit.ly/3Bll5eK (TM)
