08/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 8 October, the European Commission announced the launch of a “structured dialogue” with Member States to work towards a “strong digital education system” in the EU. In her State of the Union speech last September, the Commission President stressed the “importance” of investing in “digital skills” and emphasised that this task would require “a structured dialogue at the highest level”. The Commission therefore on Friday invited the EU27 to join the initiative. It should also bring together education and training institutions, infrastructure providers, the private sector, social partners and civil society. The operation will be completed by the end of 2022. The Commission will then present initiatives in response to the needs identified in the dialogue. (AC)
