08/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 8 October, the European Commission opened a public consultation to ensure the “ safe and efficient” development of a drone ecosystem. The initiative, which is part of the EU’s strategy for sustainable and intelligent mobility, aims to promote the uptake of drones, while striking “a balance between safety, security and other societal concerns”, said the Commission. In addition to an effective regulatory framework, the ‘Drone 2.0 strategy’ aims to develop an “innovative” business environment in order to ensure the “widest possible” acceptance within society of the technology. A preparatory study will be undertaken to take stock of progress and identify needs and gaps. This consultation will remain open until 31 December 2021. More information: https://bit.ly/2YuzB5V (TM)
