08/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) has sent a letter to MEP Esther de Lange (EPP, Netherlands), rapporteur for the Environment Committee (ENVI), asking her to include the principle of partnership and multi-level governance, according to a press release published on Thursday 7 October. For the regional organisation, the draft legislation does not clearly require Member States to involve local and regional authorities in the design and implementation of the fund. CPMR President Cees Loggen suggests the introduction of territorial ‘earmarking’ for regions, especially peripheral maritime regions, as they are more threatened by climate change, but also the introduction of the EU’s extended emissions trading scheme (ETS).
