15/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, announced on Wednesday 15 September that Lucia Vuolo from Italy has joined the EPP group. On her website, the MEP welcomed the fact that she had joined the Christian Democrat group, hailing it as “a big family” made up of political leaders from “the four corners of our continent”. Ms Vuolo comes from the hard right of Matteo Salvini’s Lega. “No one, and I mean no one, opposed the choice I just made official”, she said. The EPP group, which voted in favour of her joining in July, now has 179 MEPs. (PH)
