07/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – EU Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis said on Tuesday 7 September in Tallinn that he and his US counterpart, Gina Raimondo, will open the EU-US Trade and Technology Council in Pittsburgh at the end of September. In December 2020, the EU put forward the idea of such a council to cooperate on standards for emerging technologies. It was officially launched in June this year (see EUROPE 12471/2). “We share similar challenges with the United States on cybersecurity and market dominance of digital service providers”, said Dombrovskis. The European Commission is expected to announce the exact date of this event in the coming days. (LM)
