07/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 7 September, the European Commission launched a new €785 million call for proposals to finance key cross-border energy infrastructure projects. The €785 million in grants from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) will co-finance projects on the EU’s 4th list of projects of common interest (PCIs). To be included on this list, any energy project must provide a significant benefit for at least two EU countries and must meet certain criteria set out in the EU Regulation (347/2013) on Trans-European Energy Networks (TEN-E), which is currently under revision (see EUROPE 12754/24). The call for PCI proposals will remain open until 19 October 2021, the European Commission said. Once the applications have been assessed, an award decision is likely to be adopted in the early part of 2022. (DG)
