28/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – Portugal is negotiating an additional 300,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine with Italy and on Tuesday 27 July, it received 200,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine purchased from Hungary, AFP reported. The country, which has reportedly obtained 290,000 doses from Norway, is one of the most advanced in terms of vaccination (see EUROPE 12770/9): 80% of people over 18 have received a first dose of the vaccine and 63% have received a second dose, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. However, the Portuguese government also wants to vaccinate 12-17 year olds before the start of the school year. To do so, it is waiting for the green light from the health authorities, AFP reports. The doses received on Tuesday are already destined for Portuguese-speaking African countries and East Timor, said Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva. (AC)
