The European Commission announced on Tuesday 27 July the appointment of 12 external experts to sit on the Investment Committee of the InvestEU Fund.
The members of the investment committee will have a four-year term of office. They were appointed by the European Commission on the recommendation of the InvestEU Steering Committee. The investment committee will have a “balanced” number of women and men, allowing for geographical representation.
The appointment of the Independent Investment Committee is a further step in the implementation of the InvestEU programme. Its role will be to decide independently on the granting of the EU guarantee to investment and financing operations proposed by the implementing partners under the InvestEU programme.
The Investment Committee will be structured around the four policy axes of the InvestEU programme: - sustainable infrastructure; - research, innovation and digitalisation; - SMEs; - social investment and skills.
Last April, the European Commission adopted new guidelines and decisions to facilitate the start-up of InvestEU (see EUROPE 12699/17). At that time, it set the terms of reference for the selection of the members of the investment committee. (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
